Enter the Fellowship: Elves, Dwarves, Wizards, Sean Beans and Hobbits, all volunteering themselves to protect a ring on its quest to be destroyed in the fiery pits of Mount Doom. Throughout our first season, we’ve really turned our hand to any role that’s come our way. Gareth’s astutely English Emily Blunt; Ellis’ passionately yelled Al Pacino; and of course no two friends will ever be the same when one of them has faked an orgasm in front of the other1. So we needed a scene in which impressions were plentiful, and characters were rich.
So be it…Ellis would take on Boromir, Legolas, Elrond, Frodo & Merry, whilst Gareth would voice Aragorn, Gandalf, Gimli, Samwise & Pippin. They shall be The Fellowship of the Ring.

And so our first season comes to an end. We have loved every second of recording these episodes, and honestly the positive response has been amazing. Thanks so much to everyone that’s joined us, and rest assured our second season will be with you in no time.

As it’s our second season, it felt like the only time to bring you a collection of episodes that contained iconic scenes from iconic movie sequels. Expect T2’s, Shrek 2’s & Bad Boys 2’s2, as we the Screenplayers get our very own sequel. The tough task then, is recreating those breathtaking vocals; made even tougher by the fact we definitely can’t afford the big Disney dollar, so brace yourself for a legal minefield when we get to the singing section of the scene. Gareth plays Elsa, Ellis plays Anna - just what we’ve always dreamed of! Plus there’s a tiny helping of Olaf in there too. The scene has all the Frozen goodness you could need, but with just a little more cynicism, and a lot less snow.

In the latest episode of Screenplayers we try our best to bring these actors portrayals to life, opting for impressions instead of our own interpretations. After all, why change perfection. The harsh, downplayed Miranda, the eccentric Nigel and constant battle of personality between Andy & Emily. There’s havoc, glam and mind games around every corner, and in this scene specifically we see the energy surrounding Miranda for the first time. It takes a while to get this one moving, with Gareth’s cat desperate for a supporting role in the script read, but when it does get moving, it’s punchy and lots of fun.

That Ghostface voice changer is iconic. The original voice was provided by Roger L. Jackson who continues to provide the voice in 2026. We had no chance of getting anywhere close to his level of esteemed voice performance, but we have given it a good go, adding a voice effect to Ellis’ performance to make Gareth’s Barrymore even more scared. By the end of the episode, we turn the phone call in to a game show and Gareth brings a children’s storytime feel to the final moments. It’s a visceral scene on screen and on paper, and we try our best to bring it to life here.

Ellis plays Pacino, bringing the rough, shouty, aggressive version of Al that’s more “hoo-hah” than disciplined LAPD detective.
